Stray Paws Animal Rescue and Welfare’s core mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and protect sick, abandoned, abused, injured, or surrendered dogs and cats across Durban and its surrounding low-income townships.

Their comprehensive rescue efforts focus on the most vulnerable animals:

 * Critical Care and Medical Rescues: They regularly pick up sick and injured animals and immediately take them to a veterinarian for clearance and treatment. This includes dogs and cats suffering from deadly diseases prevalent in townships, such as Parvovirus and Distemper.

 * Emergency Response: Stray Paws operates to regularly respond to emergency rescue calls, ensuring no animal is left to suffer alone due to immediate danger or severe neglect.

 * Targeted Outreach: The majority of their rescue activity is concentrated in disadvantaged communities, including Welbedacht Township, where they rescue animals who are homeless or whose owners cannot afford medical care or daily sustenance.

 To date, Stray Paws Animal Rescue and Welfare have assisted over 6000 ani mals.
